Baseball Fielding Drill: Fun Fielding Drills

This video shows a series of fielding drills that can be done indoors our outdoors.

1 - Side to side fielding drill: Roll the ball 5 fee to one side of the fielder. The fielder should shuffle over to the ball, staying low, field the ball with 2 hands and flip the ball back to the thrower. Then roll a second ball 5 feet on the other side of the fielder, having him repeat the process to the opposite side. Repeat for 10 or so reps.

2 - Short hop fielding drill: Standing about 12 feet away, throw the ball so that it bounces right before it reaches the fielder. The fielder should concentrate on staying low, keeping his/her head down, and fielding the ball with 2 hands.

3 - Back hand fielding drill: Throw the ball to the side of the fielder, forcing him to field the ball backhand. Have him set up and repeat the process.

4 - Pitch back fielding drill: Have the fielder stand about 10 feet in front of, and facing a pitch back. Stand behind the fielder and throw the ball at the pitch back, causing a grounder to come back to the fielder.

These 4 fielding drills are great for youth baseball practices, and for practicing at home.
